About Rhapsody & Blues

From pliés to push-ups, it’s a family affair.

Welcome to Rhapsody & Blues, a family lifestyle blog that blends dance, travel, fitness, and creative parenting into one beautiful rhythm.

We’re a dynamic trio chasing meaning, movement, and memory-making around the world — with our passports stamped, pointe shoes packed, and swing shoes polished. This blog is our home base as we explore life beyond borders, on land and at sea, and share what makes our family life not just functional… but fabulous.

Whether you’re a fellow dance family, a wellness-loving mom, or a curious traveler looking for real tips from a real family, you’ll find:

  • Ballet adventures (hello, YAGP and YouTube dreams!)
  • Swing dance stories and classes
  • Family travel tips (especially for cruise-loving, culture-chasing families)
  • Fitness + lifestyle inspiration from a mom who balances pliés and push-ups
  • Reviews, resources, and recs we actually use (coming soon!)

We’re here to move — physically, emotionally, and globally — and to help you move, too.

Meet the Family

🩰 Jess (a.k.a. Mom / Rhapsody Ringleader)
Dance teacher. Librarian. Fitness instructor. Travel planner. Wordsmith. Jess is the heartbeat of this blog — equal parts graceful and gritty. She’s traveling the world, one blog post, dance step, and deep breath at a time.

🎩 Dad (a.k.a. The Lindy Lead)
He’s the steady rock behind the rhythm — a swing dancer, master chef, and supporter-in-chief. When he’s not on the floor or behind the camera, he’s cheering loudest for the little ballerina and helping build dreams, one backbeat at a time.

🩰✨ Rhapsody (a.k.a. The Starlet)
At just 9 years old, she’s already taking on the world — from ballet barres to cruise ship pool decks. She’s the creator behind the YouTube channel Bon Voyage Rhapsody, where she documents her adventures in travel, dance, and joy.

Why “Rhapsody & Blues”?

Because our life is part classical, part improvisational.
We’re drawn to rhythm — of music, of motion, of memory-making.
And like any great rhapsody, it’s full of unexpected transitions and beautiful complexity.

This blog is where we tell our story. And we’re so glad you’re here for it.
