Welcome to Rhapsody & Blues: Our Family in Motion

Hi, I’m Jess — mom, dance teacher, fitness coach, librarian, and the messy-haired dreamer behind Rhapsody & Blues. I’m so glad you’re here.

This blog was born somewhere between a ballet studio and a boarding gate. Between helping my daughter perfect her pirouette and learning how to let go of the idea that life had to look a certain way. Somewhere in the middle of recital prep, swing dance socials, road trips, and Googling “how to move abroad with kids.”

It’s equal parts passion project and permission slip — to slow down, speed up, and step outside the lines we were taught to color inside.

🩰 So, what is Rhapsody & Blues?

It’s a family lifestyle blog that celebrates movement — physical, emotional, and geographical.

We believe:

  • Dance teaches presence, patience, and confidence.
  • Travel opens the heart and stretches the mind.
  • Family life doesn’t have to mean standing still.
  • Fitness is resilience, rhythm, and grace — for every body.

🌍 What You’ll Find Here:

  • Ballet + parenting reflections (real talk + pointe shoes)
  • Family travel stories, itineraries, and tips
  • Swing dance life + online course sneak peeks
  • Fitness and wellness with a family focus
  • Product reviews + resources we actually use

🎬 Why now?

Because time is flying. My daughter’s pliés are getting stronger, and her YouTube channel Bon Voyage Rhapsody is growing by the day. We’re dreaming big — and stepping into it together.

Maybe you’re a dance parent, a travel-loving family, or someone just craving more creativity and connection. Either way, I hope you find something here that moves you.

💌 What’s Next?

  • A mother daughter cruise recap- Catalina Island was beautiful!
  • Our favorite “travel & stretch” routines as we head to 2 summer intensives for Rhapsody
  • Behind-the-scenes peeks at creating our swing dance scene at home

Thanks for being part of our first step. Let’s make a rhapsody.

With love,
Jess
